Navigating Turbulence: Crisis Response in a Changing Culture
Join us as we explore the contemporary youth culture and its impact on identity, behavior, and social interaction with juvenile clients. This course will examine the sociocultural forces shaping the lives of young people, including media, technology, peer influence, and family dynamics along with an emphasis on understanding youth subcultures, risk taking behaviors, and the challenges youth face in today’s complex world. This course will provide a foundational knowledge and practical strategies for crisis intervention with youth, including recognizing signs of distress, mental health issues, bullying, self-harm, trauma, and suicide prevention.
Goals and Objectives:
Understand the key elements of contemporary youth culture.
Analyze the sociological and psychological challenges faced by youth.
Identify indicators of crisis and at-risk behavior in young people.
Understand basic crisis intervention models and communication strategies.

CEUs: 6 CE’s are available for Social work, counseling, and JPO hours have been applied for.*

Cancellation Policy
Youth Services Institute reserves the right to cancel the conference/training up to two weeks prior if 50% participation is not met. In such cases, registered participants will receive a full refund. If participants were to need to cancel, any cancellations made seven days prior to the training are eligible for a 90% refund of the total registration amount. Any cancellations made less than seven days prior to the training are eligible for a 50% refund of the total registration amount. Please submit your cancellation requests via email to ysi.ua.edu along with the Shipping Information number from your receipt. The cancellation date for this training is August 14, 2025.
